• MoEFCC had favourably recommended EC for Belkundi Mines on 28.07.2026, subject to judgment outcome.
• ECs granted under 2017 and pending under 2021 OM remain valid unless challenged.
• 2021 OM deemed invalid and quashed prospectively; 2017 Notification remains in force with limits.
• Fate of ongoing projects: ECs already granted remain; pending applications to be processed per judgment.
• No fresh ECs under 2017/2021 instruments will be entertained; centralized appraisal required for eligible cases.

EC update

• EAC recommended EC for Belkundi Mine: 1.8 MTPA iron ore, 0.3 MTPA manganese ore.
• Area constraint: mining restricted to 965.423 ha of 1,276.8 ha total project area.
• Conditions include PARIVESH submission, lease validity beyond 15/08/2026, and ₹4.81 crore bank guarantee for RP&NCRAP.
• Forest clearance for 311.367 ha required; no blasting within 500 m of railway siding.
• ML lease validity beyond 15/08/2026 pending extension; EC process to follow upon extension.
